Matt Smith & Meg Ullah: ‘Splintered: We’ve Grounded the Pace and to the Dot’

Meg and Matt explore the aesthetic of choreographed movement, risk and chance. After discovering beauty in stillness when their wooden sculptures balance, what excites them further is their inevitable collapse. What they did not anticipate is that it does not get any easier. The duo have been balancing wood for a few months now, and during this time some tasks have become easier and others harder. They just never know which and when. Their relationship on stage is one that changes with juxtaposing unexpectedness and inevitability, just like the sculptures they create.
