Rebecca Hobbs is an emerging conceptual artist from Leicester. Often autobiographical in origin, her work reflects a commentary on the wider social and political climate.
Murmuration examines society’s image of the ‘perfect’ woman and mother. The work asks mothers to participate in the project by donating personal belongings to be woven into cocoon-like nests as she documents and collates the shared experience of women through their reflections on motherhood by forming a murmuration: a gathering of ‘nests’ that each represent an individual woman/mother.
