As a small experiment we are interested in the possibility of fixing a chair in place with a spotlight focused on it. We’re interested in seeing what sort of personality would sit there, or indeed if anyone would.

Amber Gibbs & Emma Gardner “Projected Environments”

Kate Da Castro “Art Machine”

‘ART MACHINE’ Firebug, 24th - 26th May
Kate Da Castro & The Attic Arts Collective

Art is a machine. Feed in popular culture, images, thoughts, and emotions and make them into a ‘thing’, an experience, a happening. This is shown to others, consumed and digested and sold. Where does art end up? What is its function? The Attic will explore these ideas and provoke ideas about what art is and how it is made and appreciated. It playfully explores themes of ‘Create’, ‘Curate’, ‘Consume’ and ’Corrupt’. The process of making the art was documented, and this, along with the finished pieces is exhibited here.

Heather Forknall “One Last Shot”

The Crumblin’ Cookie, 24th - 26th May
Heather Forknall & The Attic Arts Collective

Inspired by the “One Last Shot” scene in the movie “The Deer Hunter” - the short film is a documentation of a performance art piece. The video consists of the five artists undertaking a bizarre ritual in an abandoned warehouse, where four artists must sacrifice themselves by popping the contents of a balloon over their heads. The film is to be shown as a projection within the chosen venue as a silent film.
